1. Arizona Vipers (3-1) - These guys are definently the team to beat in the league. They are coming off a pretty big win over the East-leading Hippies, 31-10, and will take on their division rivals, the Oakland Marauders. Sam Lim is the leagues leading rusher so far. Cover boy Phillip North got off to a slow start in the game, but then threw 2 TDs. Dustin Dingle and Issac Pruitt both had defensive TDs off interceptions, and they really close off the gap late in the game.
2. Oakland Marauders (3-1) - Oakland played very bad football in the first 3 quarters, and nearly got embarressed by winless Rhode Island. Luckly, the offense buckled down, and the defense stepped their game up, and they put up 3 scoring drives. Ben Mott had a sub-par game, throwing 9-22, and getting 113 yards. Brian Tomlinson also played pretty poorly, though he did score the winning TD. Defensively, the secondary just did not let the Wolves WR's Steve Savoy and Jack Williams do anything. Jim Ferreira, Graydon Udeya, Mr Pwner, and Chuck Wicker all tightened up on defense and did not let the WR's do much of anything.
3. New Hampshire Hippies (2-2) - They looked very bad out their against the Vipers. They went down 11 at the Half, and after that, just seemed to give up out there. Bam Risso threw 3 TD passes, 2 of them to the wrong team. Ken Sady, who hasn't had a TD or a 100 yard game since week 1, managed just 43 yards on 15 carries. For the most part, Sabby Piscitelli, in his 2nd game, took care of Darryl Bacon, but Lugie Morgan had trouble covering Anquan Fitzgerald, allowing 5 catches for 87 yards and a TD. Mario Williams, who was involved in some complaints about his team this week, had 9 tackles, including 3 in the backfield.
4. Rhode Island Wolves (0-4) - The Wolves, who came off allowing 31 straight points against the Hippies, again started out strong, but were unable to follow it up. They lead for most of the game, but they let the Marauders get 3 good drives, and were unable to get win #1. A plus sign for the team was that Steve Savoy, who had 5 drops last week, did not drop one pass. Ron Isley once again failed to show Marauders GM Ben Mott why he should've been drafted over Brian Tomlinson, getting just 63 yards on 13 carries. The passing game just never got going, as Donovan Culpepper threw 9-22 for 89 yards, and was sacked 2 times. On defense, Michael Dawkins, once again, shows why he should be considered the top LB in the league, forcing a fumble, and getting 6 tackles. There are 8 more games to be played, but half of them will be needed to catch up with the Hippies if the Wolves want a shot at the playoffs.
